Our Christmas film this year is Billy Wilder’s 1948 classic, ‘A Foreign Affair’, starring Berlin’s iconic Hollywood star, Marlene Dietrich.

The film is about a United States Army captain in occupied Berlin who is torn between an ex-Nazi cafe singer and the United States congresswoman investigating her. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards in 1949.

We’re very excited to be returning to the stunning Das ehemalige Stummfilmkino Delphi in Prenzlauer Berg, a former 1920s silent film cinema.

In the 1920’s, the now nearly forgotten neighbourhood of Weissensee was once Berlin’s cultural hotspot. Known as “Little Hollywood” this was where artists like Fritz Lang and Marlene Dietrich were making the films that established German Cinema as an international artistic movement.

Among the finest and the most popular was Das ehemalige Stummfilmkino Delphi. Situated on Caligariplatz, this relic rests like a hidden jewel, unrecognizable from the outside, and practically unknown to most Berliners.
